Welcome to the main event of Stockholm Sangeet Festival´s 20 year jubilee! The festival is going on all of October and culminates in this concert featuring some of the greatest artists of Indian classical music. Abhay Sopori is the torchbearer of santoor in the style of Sufiyana Gharana originating in Kashmir, carrying the legacy of his father Pt Bhajan Sopori forward. He will be accompanied by Nihar Mehta on tabla who is a familiar name to the SSF audience, having accompanied many big stars since decades. The event will start with violin recital by Nandini Shankar, one of the celebrated granddaughters of the legendary Dr N. Rajam, specializing in making the violin sing like a human voice. Tabla support will be given by Sweden´s own Suranjana Ghosh, known from SVT and for her many collaborations with the countries best musicians of all genres.
In the venue we will also enjoy artwork by Annika Heed and photography by Max Dahlstrand and other surprises.
Stockholm Sangeet Festival 2026 is organized by Stockholm Sangeet Förening in collaboration with Eric Ericssonhallen, Farhang Förening, Föreningen Renqvists Verkstad, Kulturskolan Stockholm, Stallet Världens Musik, Saraswathy Kalakendra Institution of Fine Arts, Restaurang Ellora and Odissi Dansproduktion with support from Swedish Arts Council, Stockholms Stad, Region Stockholm and the Indian Embassy in Sweden.
